1st run in the 27' Daytona

Well guys i pushed her just alittle on Sat! WOW little info weather was great for hp water was not smooth as glass.Only had her open about 5secs! But with 4 guys on the boat about 225lbs each all my stuff... The old 600 took it right to my set rev limit of 6000rpm. So it was 115MPH, 6,000RPM 32"Bravo one, 1.35 gear! That is 15% slip, is that to high?? What u guys think i was WAY HAPPY! I have a 34"Bravo to try out next! One thing what kind what water psi do i want 20-25PSI running 110+? On one run i blew that rubber o-ring out of the top of my sea strainer? Easy fix, but i did turn my psi dump valve out a few turns after that.:evilb::evilb:

Thank you Skydog

Congrats that's some big numbers.... Including ur slip factor... You should try to shoot for around 7% of slip. As for the water psi Imco recommends 15 to 20lbs at full speed.. Keep in mind that u will lose psi at higher speeds as ur drive is running on the surface of the water.

UPDATE!!!! :) :)

`Well, just got in Boat ran UNREAL!!!! I run on a small river so we dont have tons of room at all!! WOT for about 7-8 sec, with a buddy ridding shot gun. 120MPH!!!!! It had maybe 1-2more before we would have hit the rev limt. Tach was about 5900-5950 and had to shut it down river makes a hard left. This was with a stock Lab Merc 34" Bravo one.

Thank you Skydog P.S. One little thing had him taping the run in side the boat, got done look at camra it says stop taping to save hard drive from all the shaking!!! WTF!!! HAHAHA

What motor/drive are you running?

skydog 08-19-2011 11:11 AM

600 Meril with 1271 blower XR drive that Teague has worked on. Should have boat back in a week for some new speed runs hoping for 130+MPH Boat should be at about 1150HP on pump now we will see Dyno next week.

Skydog

B BOATER 08-30-2011 08:01 PM

Yes you want that much water pressure or you will hot spot the motor. Pfaff says the more the better we stayed around 30 max. It's just the water pressure usually the more drag you are creating with a thru hull pick up.

skydog 08-30-2011 08:08 PM

Thank-you

B BOATER 08-30-2011 10:32 PM

Should have brought it to the shootout! Perfect conditions to see what it will do in a true mile. In your class top speed was like 116mph.

I am surprised your XR drive will hold up behind that much hp. Be careful increasing your prop size, etc.. As you decrease your slip, you'll see bigger numbers, but you're also putting more stress on that drive. I tore through 4 bravo style drives with lower slip, higher speed prodicing labbed 5 blade props. While I lost some top end moving back to 4 blade props, I haven't blown a drive in 3 seasons (knock on wood).

Would I have to make it look like an advertisement for some engine shop, or could I say I actually built my own motor and did all of the rigging myself ?

GPM 10-08-2011 08:14 AM

I'm not picking on you or your boat, Ateco has done a nice job for you, the boat runs well, enjoy.

Onecoolcat 10-11-2011 10:25 PM

Just thought I would throw in another plug for Ateco. Have a 26ft. cat with Ateco engine running over 100mph for years now. Skydog awesome Daytona and good luck with the 140 mark!!!!

skydog 10-12-2011 08:49 AM

Thank u man super happy!!!!! Looks like the 140mph vid will be in spring I have started the big clean up to put her away.

B BOATER 10-22-2011 12:59 PM

If it's truly 1100 hp I think it would be the fastest 27 I have ever heard of. 140 is a huge number in that boat with that power.

skydog 10-22-2011 05:14 PM

Eliminator had a lot more than 1100hp in the 25 Daytona that ran 144 back in 2002, so I have to agree.

So you're saying the 27 at 4500 lbs is way faster than the 25 at 4000 lbs.
