You were so right about these 36 Speedsters! I love this boat and the way it chops through rough water at 100mph. The same conditions would put my 28' to the shore. The props are 40 18 16 and a half. It runs 131 to 135 mph and I am hoping the Herrings I am waiting on change this some. If I just stab the throttles it will break loose but it planes quick and accelerates quickly. I fell in love with boat all over again after some seat time in warm weather. By the way, my boat is also labeled a Coupe on the dash? I guess they played loose with that name. Thanks, Dan

Nice! Welcome to the family. There aren't many of us :-).

Wow! Swinging 40's? I'm only swinging 34's. Is your 40 a 4 blade, 5 blade, or a clever? What Herring's did you order?

Both sets are five blade. What is the top speed with your 34's? I forgot what hp do you have? The new Herrings are going to be 40's also. Dan

I've got Ilmor 625hp's with 200 hrs on them. During the off season next year I'm going to have them refreshed and upgraded to the 710's.

With 5 blade labbed 34's I've seen 123mph a few times in ideal conditions (ie cool, no humidity and slight chop). However, with the labbed props, I would throw a blade about every 20 hours due to the high xdim on my boat. So, I've been running the same 4 blade stock merc 34's for 3 seasons without any issue, but only seeing 110mph-118mph when running those....but I don't have to deal with the blade throwing issue.

Our hp's are not much different. I wonder why you can run such a small prop without hitting rev limit. I tried 36 and 38's and had good mid range but hit rev limiters at 117 to 120mph.

May be close to same HP, but what about rev limiter rpm for both motors. I am going to guess you have a lower rpm limit.

You could be right. I have a 1:5 ratio.
