25 Eliminator - West coast advice needed
For a 25 Eliminator, what would be the ideal motor for it? (this is a sincere question) Would a 500 EFI be ok or would it be a dog with a single 500?
I see quite a few with 700HP and 800HP motors but of course then there is the dependability factor. For a west coast boater (obviously different conditions then east coast) what would be the ideal set up? The other question; do most people run a standard bravo XR or a shorty? |

If you are talking daytona, I would want atleast a 525. My daytona is set up with a 625 ilmor/xr/imco -2 shorty. Boat runs mid 90's. A well setup 525 merc boat will run 85-88mph.
A 500 efi with a whipple would be fun also. |

Which eliminator model?
Uncle Dave Cat, Daytona Tall deck, 1/4 canopy, closed front |
Gino, a 25 daytona with a 500efi will run right around 81 to 83 mph with a 1.5 bravo spinning a 28.
A 525 will run 83 to 85 ish with a 1.36 spinning a 28 or a 1.5 spinning a 30. 600hp will net you around 88 to 90. A 500efi / whipple kit will run lo to mid 90's A 900 :) will get you over 110. Drive length depends on where they cut the hole. Eliminator seems to range up and down about an inch but most are delivered with a standard length drive and the transom assembly touching the rub rail. I run a -1 SC lower on a SCX drive on mine for all around drivability. Yes, it would probably pick up 5mph with a -2 but -2's tend to be a little tough to plane but work well once up and over. |

It dosen't matter, if i put a 500, 525, or 700 , in a few months I'll be putting a 1,550 sterling in it! :drink: |
Nordic Thor runs better and looks better also.

I have a local to me 25' with a factory installed teague 900 and its a solid 120+ boat. My boat with 600 hp runs over 90 even with 5 people. http://i929.photobucket.com/albums/a...999/speedo.jpg http://i929.photobucket.com/albums/a...ept2010039.jpg |
