I have a picture of the Excalibur Sword decal on a 1978 hull. Hello there,
I'm attempting to "attach" photos ofs with the logos still on the starboard side of the gunwale. I'm sort of new to this forum format so I haven't put any pics on Photobucket. But I could always email the pictures to you. I happy to have found a Excalibur discussion forum. I've been involved with a re-build of a 1978 36' Excal hull where we hung triple outboards off the transom. It's a really neat project and the hull hasn't been modified. I also have a 1979 31 Excalibur. I have read every page of this thread and no one answers the original question in 1979 was the 31 a joint project of Excalibur and Chris Craft as my boat has all Chris emblems on it Anyone????????

From what I know, the 31' hull could be considered a "joint project" in '79. Dick Gent was hired to head Chris Craft in 1978. He wanted to turn things around and build a deep V hull performance line. Gent then entered into an "agreement" w/ Bill Farmer of Excalibur to build a new high performance deep V boat, both the 31' and the 36', thereby bailing out Farmer w/ his financial troubles. However, the issue was that Jean-Claude Simon (of Cary Boats) actually "owned" the mold (or rights) to the 31' deep V hull ever since the early 70's. Claude already had an agreement w/ Farmer where Farmer paid him royalties on each 31' hull popped out. Gent and Farmer eventually paid Simon outright for the rights to the hull design. Simon agreed, however insisted that each hull must read "designed by J-C Simon" After the buyout, Chris Craft now owned the 31' hull and actually built two versions --a center console version & the deep V I/O. These designs were eventually called "Stingers" But in 78/79, they didn't have the "Stinger" logo. I believe the logo read "Excalibur by Chris Craft" ...I could be off on a few (small) facts here, but this is what I remember reading. So, YES, it makes sense that your ride has the CC emblem! Mine is a 1978, but she's the 36' hull and has NO "Chris Craft" reference on her.

I have a 1982 Excalibur Hawk '40 ID# NAP07416M82H with a notched transom with 2 502 EFI's. First ower was Ives Industries in Treasure Island, FL and the 2nd owner was a man named Eddie Fields from Orlando. It is a great boat!

I was told yesterday that there are only 5 registered Excalibur Hawk 40 and mine is one of them. If this is true.. Wow!

How could that be, I have saw five together at same time in Florida Keys. Maybe only five left. ?

I think they were talking about actual Excalibur Hawks made by Excalibur marine not Wellcraft, but who knows.

The Excalibur 40's and a then new 42 with diesels Rolled into Faro Blanco Resort, Marathon Key for Easter 1982 or 83 pretty impressive site. Caused me to sell my Sea Ray and buy a 40 Hawk. I would have thought 10 or 15 built with Bill Farmer but don't know, only going by how many I have seen over the years pre 1984. My first 40 was last boat built in Farmers shop and I didn't take delivery of because of so many mistakes on building of boat, then got the first or second one Wellcraft built. In hindsite should have took the Farmer Built one. Probably would still have it just repowered a dozen times.

Were any of the 38’ a Kevlar layup? I have a 1980 and the layup if very yellow and thick matting, not the typical White glass that I’m Use to seeing. Just trying to figure out a little Moreno about it as I’m tearing it down to rebuild. |

Newish here, if y'all are still here. Been a while since I've posted.
I acquired a 83 Excalibur 31'. I don't have enough posts to post a picture. But this is 31', has a hybrid deck. Is open about 1/2 and 1/2 cuddy. Guess I need to make more posts or send me your email or Facebook at Bobby Iven. I haven't posted any pictures yet. |

I know this post is very old but figured I’d post.. how many flat deck 27s were built? My dad had one back when I was young probably 10ish years ago (I’m 21 now) lol been on the hunt for another for awhile

Does anybody know how many 24' Lightning boats were built by Bill Farmer before he changed the name to Excalibur?
I purchased what I thought was a P&D but the title has it as a 1975 Lightning. I cant make head or tail of the HIN either B5HM10831RW10 Any help on the history of my boat would be greatly appreciated. |
