Default Bottom Paint

I am being told two different stories about this boat that I am looking to buy. Is it normal to see this much paint come off the bottom just from pressuring washing the boat at the end of the season?

Can it just be painted over with another coat or was it not prepped properly causing the paint to come off?

The boat has been used in salt H20.

Yep, it will peel off with a pressure washer like that. Just scuff it up and put on another coat if needed. BTW, use black next time!

yep . . looks like a combo of to much paint and lack of prep. I'll second the scuff 'er up good and the switching to black

Bad prep or paint IMHO. I have 9 seasons on my CC with the original bottom job. Pull it every winter and pressure wash and th only place i have paint that has come off is where we beach it.

Although i can still get the "red lead" bottom paint I used something different on this oneI will have to look and see what I used, but i think it was interlux.

My last CC had red lead on it and we didn't even get growth on the dock

Thank you for your replies. We drove 650 miles round trip on Thursday to find out that the boat was a piece of crap. There was mold growing on the outside of the boat, in the cabin and on the canvas. We were extremely disappointed and came home without the boat. The search continues ...
