do you plan on epoxy or vinylester? (i left out poly as it should not be considered for this project)

for epoxy you will need DB170, about the middle of this page.

No mat should be used in an epoxy laminate, in fact the 170 should be all you need really. If you need to do any finish work on the outside you will also need some type of fairing filler like Adtechs 861

That to me is the most painful part. Just did a OMC to Volvo 290 conversion in a 1970 Monza. After all that work, money and materials were used, then just to cut out a big hole and throw it away a lot of it kills me.

Come on, that's the best part! It means you are about to start putting things back together! Chuck that chunk in the garbage and get to it.

Although, I do wish I would have kept my cut-out when I re-did mine....would have made a neat wall-hanging.
