paint help
In spring I am going to shoot my boat again. 5 yrs ago I painted it in interlux perfection and within 3 yrs the red turned to white. I am going to sand boat with a da with 320 grit paper. Can I get away with not having to prime the whole boat again and what paint should I use. Was looking at ppg concept, imron marine or alexseal. Gonna do some graphics also and want to clear the whole boat when done.

you can paint over an old finish as long as it has a good bond and is a catalyzed/fully cured surface. 320 and shoot 'er in Concept, good stuff and easy to work with.

just re read and saw you wanted to do graphics. for that you will need to go to a base/clear system. you may not have to prime but you should use a sealer.

I know you recommend the 2021 clear, should I use the same base for the boat and the graphics. The deltron dbc? Thank you for the help. Not sure if it matters but the boat will be bright red with a checkered flag graphics on it and maybe some metallic silver also.

Im a custom painter by profession and i recommend what i use. Spies Hecker BC/CC. the 8035 HS clear is the best ive sprayed and ive shot it all. here are some pics of my PQ 280 i shot in may. BTW it is the same paint and same process the big MTI cats have on them.
