ok...looking for input here...

sealing gibal housing asm....4200 or dow 732????

also sealing k planes..etc...boat will be back this weekend...
time to rebuild it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't use anything on my transom assembly, just let the o ring do it's job. I've heard of others using 4200. If I were to use anything it would be life seal. Much easier to deal with in case it has to come off in the future. For my k planes, I either used 4200 or life seal, don't remember but know that you definitely need some sealing there.

4200....BTW cabosil is a ground up really fine fiberglass powder..when mixed with resin it acts as a glue or a filler..

it was suggest to me by guy who did all my glasswork to use dow 732......he said he has used for yrs

cabosil is actually fumed silica (flamed quartz sand) West's 404 is a better representation of ground FG. Cabosil is used for lots of stuff even thickener in toothpaste and cosmetics


Dave did a nice job on your boat Flash. Did he say if he was going to be getting a new shop somewhere? The world is running out of glass guys quick . . . . .

hey dave,,,,he is in process of closing down his place in marrysville....he has gotten rid of a few old boats outside ,,,but still has that old duoble canopy boat,,,and the a30 boat...

he said he was looking for place up in bay city area....

is there a torque spec for the gimbal to transom assm?????

i know there is cork gasket is there,,just wondering...

this weeknd goal gimbal asm on boat!!!!!
drives,,...first of week...
hydrualic steering...rams mounted soon....

after a year an half of work rebuilding , rigging, building new motors...................

going out for test run sat morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...before it snows...hahahaha
