Boat Trader gets a good amount of traffic, so I'd say definitely post it there. A dealer could move it, however, even if you are listing it on OSO, Boat Trader, etc, they will want some cut no matter what even if you sell it on your own. Try to find a dealer who sells ALOT of boats, hopefully some similiar to yours. I remember a local brokerage that had one of the 80's 40' Formula that sat there for years, probably because they mainly sold sport-fish boats - wrong clientele. If you really want to move it, I'd list it in as many places as possible.

Actually where I used to sell most of my stuff is on my front lawn! If your neighborhood allows it, and you live on a busy street , polish her up and put it out in front of your house. If not at your house, try to find somewhere with good traffic visibility. You'd be surprised at who might stop by!

Another consideration might be to list it on Ebay. At that price, chances are you could move it. Just look at other boat auctions and do some research so you write your listing properly.

see if you can post it on Yachtworld.com. There are some SR357's on there for price comparison also.

Thanks very much to all of you. The coolest people are on OSO!

I haven't been aggressive in trying to sell the 357. I keep telling myself it's because I don't have time. But, really I just think I just don't want to see her go. I get more looks in my 357 than nearly anything else. It may be because people can't figure out what kind of boat it is (it only has the birds on the sides and does not say "FORMULA"). Or, maybe it is because it is so loud. I dunno - all the attention is fun though.

I've recently sold a Monterey cruiser, a pair of Polaris PWCs with trailer and I am currently trying to sell an '05 King Ranch F250 (with 2000 miles) and Jeep Wranger (with 4000 miles). This is due to my step father's untimely passing a few months ago. So, selling those for my mom before probate closes is also a lot more urgent than my selling 357.

The strange thing is that the items I have just put a for sale sign on and didn't list anywhere sold right away. Everything that I have put on eBay or the internet doesn't seem to move.

I think I may just slap some for sale signs on the 357, raise the asking price $5,000, drive it around on Lake Travis and park it at Carlos & Charlie's. I'll bet I can sell it in a weekend. There is a lot of money around the area and there is no way that anyone is going to buy more boat for the money.

Really, I was hoping someone on OSO would be interested and I could give them a good deal and get rid of it quick and easy. But, who knows I may just have to keep the old 357 and freshen her up. I already have way more in the boat than I am asking so why not just keep it?

Talk to Robert Nelmes( Magicfloat on OSO) about listing your boat. At what you have it priced he might even trade. Worth a phone call. He is Formula's #1 FasTec dealer for a reason. Joe Murray

I'd buy it but I can not finance it since it's +15 yrs. And I do not own a home so no luck with a home equity loan. Owner finance?

(and you could come visit her any time you like)

Formula 78 - I only wish I had the ability to finance it myself. I'd have to have cash if i plan on buying another boat. It would be nice to still see her on lake Travis though. Also, did you hear about the recent accidents on Travis? I really feel for all of those involved. My friends always want to go boating at night and we do it a lot. But, it always scares me. I came up on a cruiser a few weeks ago at night. i was going about 25-30 mph and he had no stern light. I was almost on top of him when I saw him.

Joe (f311fr1) - I tried Robert (MagicFloat). But, he said he already has too many used boats. Too bad because I love the looks of that '99 353 with the Pro Chargers.

I think the price is too low---you're killing the value of my SR357.

For what the new one costs you could make a lot of improvements and add lots of toys and still be money ahead.

Of course I'm saying all this as one who has way too much time and money in a 357. It is nice thought when the goin' gets rough.

Poorsche -

I am starting to think the same thing. I priced it where I thought I could move it quickly on OSO. If I have to go through a service, broker, or pay hundreds for ads then I will either raise the price a bit or just keep it. The next time I go to the lake I am going to put some For Sale signs on it and see what happens. I sold my last boat that way in a couple of weeks. If I can sell it easily I will. If not then I'll probably end up keeping it.

I was wondering something. I have seen you and few other people refer to your 357s as "SR357" and I am wondering if there were actually two 357 models. Mine says "357 SR1" on all of the emblems. Does your's say "SR357"?

You are using the "formal" name--which is correct. I usualy use the shorthand. I also have othere "non-printable" names for mine on regular occiassions too.
