Update ... work slowly progressing ....finally got ALL the wood out and have decided to go back with rigid hi density foam ...I found a shop that does restorations and even builds boats from 8 to 21' .. hopefully this will speed things up . Motors should be ready soon ... one question for 311 owners ...outside stringers .. there is a notch about 24" from the front bulkhead in the stringer. I am thinking it is where ther battery cables dropped down under the motors. can somebody look and see if I need to go back with them ? If it is for the cable we might just punch a hole thru the stringer ... Just need to make sure its not there for clearance for the motors...

how did you do to take the wood out of the fiberglass in your last picture? Was it rotten to the point you could almost take it out with a spoon ?

Only about 18" from the bulkhead back was rotted...the rest was solid ...cept the bottom was wet all the way back to the transom and then it looked like it wicked up the stringer to the top. I guess because the boat is usually nose high the water would soak back towards the transom. There was a gap between the plywood (3/8") and the transom and the transom is sealed in glass ....That area looks like the day it was glassed in .. nice and pink ( thank god)..
The front were the rot was was like cypress mulch you could just dig it out with your hand. The rest was very solid..believe me was a ***** to get out .... chain saw ...drilling ...prying .. took about 2 weeks for myself and "upthecreek" to get it all out .... maybe 3 days ? if you worked at it continuously.
I have no doubts that I could have not done anything and it would been ok for a long time ... ( shutup James) but once I opened it up I just could not let it go ...m

What pound foam are they going to go with? Make sure you have at leaste 16 pound were your motor mounts are going. If you go with a 8 pound or 12 pound it will compress over time and your alignment will go to hell.
