Default What is the middle drain plug for?

On my 1999 271 Fastech, I have three drain plugs. The two outside plugs obviously drain the bilge. What is the middle plug for? Nothing more than a few drops has ever come out of it. The back side of the plug tube is hard packed with foam. The scary thing is that when I stick a metal rod into the foam and pull it out, it is wet. Any ideas???

don't think it's "supposed" to get in there, under the "pultrusions" that make up the matrix, but "just in case" there is a drain.

Mr Nelems...correct me if I'm wrong?
