Formula Trivia Question
Let's see who knows their history. Many years ago John Adams,Formula's long time designer, formed a new company to build yachts, with Porter family involvement, but a separate company. I think maybe only a couple of boats were built when the the new Federal luxury tax killed the new venture. What was the name of the new boat? No prizes, this is a cheap contest  :drink: BTW,no Formula dealers are eligible unless no one answers, then Selpel can chime in :D

Re: Formula Trivia Question
Was it Crosby (not sure on spelling)?
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
Wrong :p
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
Ugh... Google failed me :(
No clue. |
Re: Formula Trivia Question
You can't Google it cause this was a long time ago :D The luxury tax was 1990,10% tax on any boat over 100K.Sunk a lot of dealers and builders. We were lucky, back then the boats we sold were way under that.

Re: Formula Trivia Question
Yeah, but I did get a quick tutorial about one of our past Presidents!
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
I know they built Falcons for awhile but dont think that is the answer....

Re: Formula Trivia Question
Baron?
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
We have winner :p Baron. Too bad the project died from controversial govt tactics (Google federal luxury tax) Baron could have been a contender in the market where the Formula Yachts are now
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
This coming from a guy who owns a Superboat haha. Gotta soft spot for 'mulas though. Baron's were sharp looking boats. Found this one on boattrader

Re: Formula Trivia Question
Looks like a big PC. Not surprising as the same person designed both :p
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
So what does Baron stand for or mean, oh wise one?
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
Baron is a title of nobility. Fitting for a Formula. :drink: BTW I Googled it
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question

Hey Magicfloat is this guy another dealer or does he work for Formula? |
Re: Formula Trivia Question
Hire this guy to work a few boat shows for you! He has more information than many sales guys (at other builders of course).

Re: Formula Trivia Question
OK,let's make it harder. In 1997 there was a Fastech graphic called Meteor.Beautiful design, looked like the bow was on fire. But it originally was not called Meteor. It was changed because Formula decided Meteor sounded better. What was the original name? :drink:
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
Bow on Fire ....... :D
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
No,but nice try :drink: :drink:
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
I have no idea....I always called them the "nose bleed" boats. :D

Re: Formula Trivia Question
Here is a hint. Think of the space shuttle :drink: :drink:
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
endeavor...?
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
no :drink: :p :p :p
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
Hey,Selpel,you should know
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
How about Columbia, Discovery, Atlantis, Endeavour, or Challenger :D
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
Wrong track. Has nothing to do with a shuttle name,it's about what a shuttle does when returning to earth. :p This is fun, maybe an ongoing trivia contest will get us thru a boring winter :drink: Right now Karen and I are in Destin for the World's,80 degrees and sunny, but back to work Monday. :drink:

Re: Formula Trivia Question
re-entry?
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
We have a winner :D How did you know? Very few people know the story. :drink:
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
Landing, Heat Shield????
OK, my easy question for the quiz master is... what is 'top rated CSI dealer mean'? Saw this in 'someones' ad, but never asked what it means. |
Re: Formula Trivia Question

Customer Service Index (rating)
That's something to hang your hat on!!! Congrats. |
Re: Formula Trivia Question
CSI is Customer Satisfaction Index, kind of like a JD Power Rating that really doesn't mean that much, but nice for advertising. It is a factor of the surveys sent to buyers about how happy they are with their dealer. Actually that was last year,we were knocked out of #1 this year by another dealer, maybe Glencove, not sure, help me out here Selpel  I probrably should delete this from my ads as it is not valid for 2006,but it was for 2004 and 2005.I try to be totally upfront, thanks for reminding me.
|
Re: Formula Trivia Question
Rippem,I guess I did ask that last year,my memory is awful as the years add up  I will endeavour to come up with fresh questions that you cannot do a search on :D :drink:
