Default 382 FasTech Q?

Anyone have one with 502 Mags? If so, how does she run? Have been looking for 353's and a 382 has "come up"- most I see have the HP500 . . . . so. . . . anyone?

A friend has a 353 with the 502 mags and claims 68 GPS is all he can get out of her (said he was told 72 when he bought it). Although I have a 382....it's not stock and with nearly 800HP I see 95 on GPS. Several people have told me the 382 with 500's would run 74. With 502 mags, I would assume mid-upper 60's. Remember the 502 block is a great platform for more HP and relatively easily done. If it's a good deal, you can always add more HP....you can never add more LOA.

BTW: If you plan to overnight the 382 will seem like a condo compared to a tent with the 353.

I have one with 502's and with three people on the boat and full of fuel I was running 68-69 on GPS. Not bad for a 10K lb boat on stock power. Any questions let me know.

Don- that is rockin and rollin. I am trying to move out of a 311sr-1 which is, naturally, not fast. I would like HP500's, but the boat I am looking at is like grandma-drove-it-to-church nice and my wife (will . . . ) loves it. t500hps, this boat has AIR, so I will be spending some quality time in the cabin . . . at some point. Once I get the nutz up to move on it . . .

My last boat was also a 311. Mine was a 1991 with 502 mags. It ran 68-69 also on GPS. The ride is night and day difference in the two boats. I really liked my 311 but the 382 is just that much better. Mine also has Air. I haven't used it yet but maybe one day I will.

Good luck, Do you have any pictures?

Dg- no . . . this is all up in the air. I may drive down this wekened to look at it. Then there is a 42 Fountain that has been brought to my attention . . . . I thought I knew what I wanted and, naturally, I am waffling. My boat stays 250 miles away- everytime I go see it, I decide I would be an idiot to sell it . . . blah, blah, blah. Of course, I haven't seen it since August . . . so maybe I should just buy the newer, bigger, etc. and get it over with. Then again . . . .

Before you buy a boat with 502mags pull the exhaust maninfolds and look up in the exhaust outlets for each cylinder to see if the valve stems are eaten away by water reversion. Also check the stock exhaust manifold flanges at the risers for water leaking back into the exhaust.

Been there done all this. 502mags have a problem with water reversion with the stock exhaust.

Having been on a 382 with HP500's and it's top speed was 76 I'd say a 502 mag 382 Formula would top out at around 70-72.
