Bow rail removal on 312
#1
Does anyone have any experience in removing the bow rails, I personally think it makes a nice boat look dated, I do not know why Formula still installs them, just my 2 cents.

I agree with you. I thought about removing mine on the 382. Good Luck you almost have to remove the entire head liner and cabinets to get to all of the bolts. I decided against it.

I've removed some of the side panels inside my 382 (for another reason) and remember seeing the backer bolts for the rail. Not sure if you could get to all of them though. Also, repairing the gelcoat would probably cost $1,000-2000 to fill all those holes.......and personally, I like the bow rail just fine.

to be able to grab/fend off the boat at the dock, or easily hold the boat in position at the dock, or from another deck in calm water often without deploying lines.
to make your first mate more secure out there, give her something to hold onto, and possibly keep her from going overboard and getting hurt by the boat or dock.
to hang fenders from with unlimited fore/aft placement options in order to protect the boats' finish.
do you ever go boating or dock in rough water or big wind?
if you did, you'd know why they are there and appreciate them.
how do you feel about stern rails?
just my 2 cents.
