Default Upgrades for 500Efi's

I am looking at 382's or 353 in the early 2000 rang so I am looking at 500Efi boats, what are some of the upgrades I can use to increase HP without going blower, is there a cure for the sooty transom's with these motors? any help would be appreciated. I understand I cant expect huge HP gains without really getting into the motors but some new fuel management and bolt on's would be nice.

Check in the Technical area. I seem to recall a few threads about it. If you can not find a post about it then start one there. My guess is that you will get a LOT more info because the motor guys hang out there.

I can tell you this ,my 382 Formula with 500 efi's does not black out the transom with soot. The boat runs an honest 72-73mph.Once you play around with the engines 2 things happen, you may gain 2-5 mph and your out 15k.

A fully loaded wave crusher with creature comforts is what your getting.Sometimes reliability wins over speed. My 2cents
Been there done that.
