Hi Ram I too use lake Maca as point of depart/return I agree on/off, couple coats wax, then wipe off lake mac at the launch while its still wet. think I saw you heading out sunday afternoon as we were heading in 2 311s and a336

I think I saw you guys come in. was the 336 pulled by a silver Ram? I looked at that boat, and couldn't convince the wife at the time?
and one of your 311's had some serious power !!!! sounded awesome out the thru hulls.

was that you guys? I was wiping the above mentioned lake grim off my boat when you guys pulled to the dock.

I wipe it down immediatlye when i pull the boat out , and i wash the boat each outing but the waterline is staying.

I don't want to etch it with bowl cleaner or anything becasue the boat has a great finish.

I was finnessing the bow this weekend and trie a little of that on a small spot. worked ok, but some line left. i want to get it perfectly clean first and then wax again, ( and double wax on the waterline)

Just use Sno Bowl, the gel kind is the best because it doesn'nt run. I've used it for years on my boat and it will not harm the gelcoat. The staining you get is typicaly tannin or iron in the water. If it makes you feel any better, I have a detailing business, and it's either that or muratic acid that is used to clean the bottom and waterlines.

I have a couple of spay bottles filled with pure vinegar. One for each side of the boat. Spray it down and everything wipes right off. Cheap too. A gallon is about $3.00 . I use Fantastic at the rear for the transom to get off the greasey exhaust film.( running a little rich)
Vinegar will also clean up your exhaust tips to get the lime off. Might take a couple of spayings but it will come off.

Yes Ram that was us, 336 and powered 311 go in at DNR I use Dutton. The 311 does have some serious power fresh this year. We are quite often 2-3 miles out of holland sitting when water warm enough to swim and like to go to the cove in Saug or Port sheldon usually out every sat and sunday stop in next time you see us. but i read in powerboat in a detailing article that vinegar also takes all the wax off..... :mad:

I have the gel type snowbowl stuff. works awesome. you can watch the hull turn white right before your eyes. but on my previous boat. I had to buff, polish, and wax every time after i did that. there was no finish/shine left after the snowbowl.

has anyone tried the washing waxes, or spray on waxes? the petroleum products in wax seems to cut the grease, and maybe a continual quick waxing will keep it easier to wipe down, and also never lets the wax get stripped off ???
