Default 382 Fastech - how to remove the stereo????

I give up....how do you get the stereo head unit out.....I can't do it and I've taken half the cabin apart. What's the trick?

2001 382 with Kenwood stereo (which stopped working). Thanks.

Take it in a poker run in Chicago....it will come out on it's own. (Ask Red Dog)

Yep ... I can take care of that real quick for you, and enjoy doing it, too!

Seriously, I think if you take the trim plate off, there is a small latch on each side of the radio that accepts a Kenwood stereo removal key. There may be one secured somewhere inside the port closet ...?

I may still have one around, but I changed to a Sony head unit.

The easiest way is to call Formula tech support 260 724 0111, they will be glad to help.

Yep - Daryl Johnson is your man. Helped me with a TV/VCR refit that was a total mystery until he got involved. It all has to do with keeping fasteners out of sight for that clean look....

After you take off the bezel, you gotta press out the two locking tabs on either side that keep it from moving around. A two thin flat head screw drivers or pick tools should do the trick. Or you can just contact tech support, they'll guide you through the entire process.

Default Still having trouble

This ain't workin...I talked with Daryl at Formula and he thought I needed some keys to take it out but also thought a butter knife would work....nothing is working. Here are some pics with the trim ring removed.... Do these pics look familiar to anyone? Help.

go to a local car audio shop and see if they have the key to slide in each side of the head unit. The key will release the head unit from the metal sleeve that holds it...

Not sure that is a factory-installed unit. Looks like someone else cut out the panel. Any possibility of contacting the previous owner or locating a installation and/or service manual for the head unit?
