Not very familiar with Formula powerboats but I must say you NEVER here a negative word (they always look classy, not too radical, nice lines, look kind of heavy). What would this boat run WOT (not that it is that important but its a baseline to what the boat would run). What are stock props? Looking at a 2000 model with twin 502's and wanting to know more about this boat. Your comments are greatly appreciated! Have a great holiday weekend!

Had a 1998 with 502's (same boat). Runs good for a 31 footer, 72-73 on GPS but I know I needed to tweak the props....sold it before getting that done. I could get 70 GPS anyday, any conditions. Factory claimed 74-76 with proper setup and believe it would do it on those good days with everything right. They came with 1.65 ratio bravos and 30P 4 blade props.

I saw a 312 on the trailer at the boat storage facility I just moved my 292 into.
First time seeing a 312 up close. From what I could tell, it is very similar to the current FastTech in hull design and deck lines, but wtih only 1 step.
When was the last year Formula made the 312, and anyone know why they stopped? Seems like a great boat, nice middle ground betwen the economical (relatively) 292 and (nice but twice the price) 353. With BB power on board, I would consider it if they still made it.

From what I gathered a while back, they had to many models to close together and economics changed the lay of the land, so some models got phased out and the more popular lines lived.
Not absolutley sure of that but it was what I was told by a Formula dealer in S. Florida once.

the 312 was made from 1997 to 2003. Apparently production slowed after 2000 and I believe only a couple were made in 2003. It is a "fastech" hull but with only one small step (1.5 inch). I too understand that the 271, 292, 312, 353, 382 was just too many models. If people were willing to step up to the bigger BB boat the 353 was the common choice.....with only one step the 312 went away.
