Default Need Help! Gas Gauge Stopped..

Hey guys, so I was comming back from mikes on monday took mom and sisiter over for lunch. So comming back down the severn river behind my brothers friends 38 Cig running 55-60mph the boat started pulling to the right look at the rpms at 0 then the left goes to zero gas gauge on FULL!!So we came to a stop, I primmed the right motor(couple pumps of the throtle)started up and limped home on one motor. When I got back to the dock I started both motors up and gave em some revs and sounded great so I assume I got pretty low on fuel. When I turn the key on the gauge go all the way right and all the way left when I turn it off. What do you guys think? Thanks Guys oh 1989 Formula 272 SR-1 is the boat original gauges.

I would bet that you have a short some place either in the wire going up to the guage or the sender.

The circut button for my fuel tank is on a small panel under the rear bench. If the tool box shifts, it can pop the button, and fuel tank show "E". Took me a few days to figure that one out!

I agree with audiofn, sounds like a problem with the wires.

I had almost the exact thing happen to me this summer, it turned out that the ground wire from the sender was bad. Replaced it and everything works fine now.
