I had an '86 F3LS and an '87 242 LS. Both had the "350 MAG" Alpha One package and the F3LS (21'6") went about 40mph max, and the 242 could barely make 37-38 mph despite several prop changes. Actually I did get over 40 in it with a clever prop as it was sold to me but getting up out of the hole was horrible with that prop.

That was not very impressiv Beak...
Though the one I am considering is 454 330 hp And I am told it goes 53 miles |
No, it wasn't, and that's the main reason we sold it. The 242 is greatly underpowered with a small block.
|
Well then it is good that the one I am considering has a big block.
I was infact impressed with the top speed of my old 1987 26scarab exel 54 with a 350 mag even though it took some time to reach it. *S* |
Great riding boats. you are correct on the speed 3-4 mph faster for the LS. You will need big power to get it over 60mph.
