Default 292 Fastech

Hi All,

Just a couple of questions about the 292:

With 6.2MPI what is the top speed?
At cruise what speed does the boat run at with what fuel usage?
Is there a 496HO option that isn't included on there web page?

I am looking at purchasing a 292 and exporting to Australia so I am quite interested in any other additional information.

Cheers

Dave

Its is not available with Big Blocks. Top speed with 6.2's is around 70mph, I think.

Big Blocks are not an option in the 292. 350 mags might be a better option based on opinions I've read here.....(I've never had the 6.2 motor so check for yourself). The boat will run just over 70 depending on setup and should burn 15-18 gal./ hr at about 40-45 mph. (again, based on experience with other boats but not this one.)

Dave,

There are lots of boats out there. Let us know what size and speed you want, and what your budget is, and the board can make some suggestions. I may even have a Formula 353 that fits your wants.

The 292 is only available with twin small blocks. Here's what mine runs with 6.2's (320 HP each). Fuel mileage averages 1.8 mpg at a 40-50 mph cruise.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the feedback. We are looking at spending $80,000 to $90,000 US on something around the 30ft mark. Initial I had intentions of nudging 80mph but this might not be feasible. The boat will be used 85% of the time in the ocean traveling to the Islands close to the mainland. Ours seasons are very long to the boat will be used for about 8-9 months of the years.

Sydwayz, we are still considering the 35 Fastec but we were a little concerned about the size. Are they a handle full to use with only 2 people? What sort speed and mpg do you get?

Thanks again for the info.

Cheers

Dave,

With a little practice, you can handle a 47' boat by yourself. Don't worry about handling around the docks and such. I have taken my 37' out many times, and done everything myself (read: past prissy girlfriend).

I currently have a 24 ft centre console which was imported from Miami with a 250 verado on it, I can handle this easily on my own.

So true about the girlfriend comment....

I will send an email, thanks again for the info.

Cheers
