Bob,

You want to remember who takes care of Deb with the 8 & 12 year old Burbon when you visit. Otherwise she be stuck with that swill from the slurpie machine. So fess up here! I need the target number for the winter upgrade program. So far the only work being done is the paint work at Kolor Craft in the next couple weeks, do I really need to get out my tool box? I'm guessing if it was that good it would be up here.

I'm going to buy stock in Jiffy Pop . It's going to be another long winter of empty claims and endless bull chit. I was looking foreward to the "Sled Heads" having at it for a change.

Some things I just like to keep to myself...Besides, I built my boat for me...not to beat you. You can twist that anyway you want, but that is the way it is. Be patient...You will still have time for spring upgrades. Although....so will I! You will never get back by my Formula with that Fountain you currently own...That I am sure of!

Dave

Jiffy Pop ...................Upgraded from a "Buy" to a "Strong Buy".

Methane Production Futures come to mind an investment possibility here as well.

As far as tool boxes go, I never even took mine out all season. I must be on that Rippem low maintence program, only 20+ mph quicker.

Are you in?
It all depends on mother nature. Last year we made three trips to the UP and two of them we left the truck and ventured out for two over nights and returned on the third day. It was awsome. first trip we made was between Xmas and New Years went to the far western end lake Gogebic area, was warned stay off the lake - saw sleds runnin across and up and down it for two days - made a run to the porcipine mountains and on the return side of 120 + miles decided to do the lake wide open is typically 110 - 115 and we were runnin 45 in slush until the belt blew.
Week days are great in either area trails typically get groomed mon-tue and not to many riders. Cheryl and I have run just about every trial in the UP from the east to the west on the northern side and never had a bad day. week ends in the lower can get real busy and crazy at times - trails get wopped out and make it a long ride. Let us know if your headin our way I probably have trail maps for where ever your going and would be more than willing to join lead or follow As for studs, again all depends on the lady, we run paddles but have been stuck on hard pack wishing we had them. I have lots of links for conditions and they are pretty reliable if needed.

Count us in
Al & Cheryl

Sounds like a definite place to try. Been to Canada a few times and Yellowstone once. The UP has got to be the next Mecca I visit.

As for studs, I'm a paddle guy too. Been running paddle tracks since the mid '90s on my Summits, then had an inch-and-a-halfer on my 700 Yami. My current sled has the stock 1" track. I know it's not enough for the torque of this thing but I'll run it this year and see how it goes. As for studs, I don't really believe in them. They're only needed on ice and plowed-down roads, neither of which I like to ride on. Trails need paddles. I've toasted untold numbers of "stud boys" on the trails in short blasts with my paddles. They just plain hook up. Paddles do bring the top end down a bit though.

Maybe we can get something together this winter, Jeff and I will discuss it.

I agree with the whole paddle deal .... but 4 yrs ago I was up on the "Hill" and some jack azz came flying around the corner that was washed out and started to slide towards me ... I whacked the throttle my studs bit in and I was able to get out of the way unfortunately the guy behind me who didn't have studs didn't have the same luck his track spun and " Pow !@##$% Bang %%$#^&&* it was ugly. They both walked away not hurt but two totaled sleds.
I run a 1.25 paddle with 168 studs on my 136" track which is what is recommended for the horsepower I have.

Jeff

P.S. Dave, I am definitely interested in the road trip to the U.P.

I just need a sled and a ride! I'm in. Between all of you sled "guys" and Jeff's 'Yota or Bird's 'Burban (Not Bourbon Pete), can I catch a ride? If so...count me in...all in!
