Formula fastech questions
 

Hello, Im looking at a 97 312 fastech. Has anyone had any hull issues with them? On the bow above the front bulkhead there is a spot a couple inches inside the bow rail where the gel coat is spider cracked toward the center of the boat directly above the front bulkhead. Is this common and does it get worse? Second in the cabin under the seats there are a couple of places on the hull where what looks to be a 12"x8" rectangle spot that was repaired after it left the factory. Any info on this would be great. Thanks alot.

Call the TAG (Technical Assistance Group) at Formula and see if they know anything about the boat in question. They keep records of any dealer repairs or known damage on all their boats. All you need is the hull ID number.

3wood what is your budget? I have a 353 for a great deal and it only has 130 hrs. and not a stress crack on it.

I'm not quite sure I want a 35, dont get me wrong but its about 10k outside what Im wanting to spend but it sounds like a great deal. Does it have a trailer? Have you heard of any hull issues with these?

Is your boat here in monroe? I might be interested in taking a look at it.

3wood, I had a 98 312 & a 2000 353. If U can do the 353, I highly, did I say HIGHLY, recommend U get the 353. SOOOO much better boat, handling, ride, room, etc. 312 has not been made 4 years now, 353 still strong as far as I know! Good Luck w/ your search! Tracy:D

If you want to go bigger I have a 97 382 with carb 500's. $69000 and its yours!

Not to be outdone, but for close to the $ you are talking about I have a 2000 312 without a scratch on it. 3 years newer and I promise not a single defect. The ad is in the classified section.

Also, about the 312 versus 353, I currently own both and each has their own benefits.
Not a "hands down" difference.

I have a 99 312 now with 350 hrs and don't have any cracks like that, and I love the boat, but I have never been in a 353 either.
