Default 12V power supply amperage

Anyone know how many amps the cigarrete-lighter-style 12V power supplies in the cockpit and cabin can safely handle?

My boat is a 2001 271 Fastech.

I purchased a 12V coffee maker to use on the boat, and, when plugged in to my 12V battery charger, it draws 7-8 amps.

Thanks,
Jeff

it would realy depend on the size and length of the supply wire feeding the lighter socket. Most lighter sockets are usually on a 20amp fuse....so i would guess the 7-8 amps the coffee maker is drawing is not a big deal...
