Does anyone use an alternate power supply to run your amps so you don't risk running down your batteries and frying your battery charger?

I have always installed a 2nd battery and a battery isolator to run the added accessories like amps, lights, etc. Main battery then used to just start the battery and run the switches on the dash. You can run the radio for hours and best of all when you drive you boat the battery isolator charges both batteries.
