I also had a 1986 f 35-7, and I have left 1 set of stainless marine exhaust that I never even tried... did they have stainless marine exhaust back in these days or they were newer exhaust ? maybe I could use them now????

Jeff, I don't have any pics to post. They are the stock cast manifolds used on the first 420's. They have a rubber gasket between the manifold and riser. The tails are stainless and also have gaskets at the flange joint. Water flows thru gaskets instead of using hoses like the later Gils. The rubber gasket is the problem, just not a good design. I suppose if they were changed every year, they'd be fine.
When I bought the boat, the damage was already done. Plus the water ports between the tail flange and risers were clogged with scale from 20 years of no maint. Gota have water flow thru the exhaust or the engines over heat. If you have the pre gils, change the gaskets. you can still buy them if you get a part # and google it. If you need it, I can get the part # for you.

see what you think, the original owner re-drilled the thru-transom higher as you can see its above the taco rail in the back. Good Luck !
Those are sweet, I guess they make them for TRS. Nice clean installation. Might be over my budgit, this boat is killin me. But I will have two new engines when I'm done. Thanks all...

If I were in your shoes, I'd buy a set of Stainless Marine manifolds/pipes. 5 year warranty. You can't go wrong with Stainless Marine, they make great power and last forever.
