Default I need alternator help

Where is the best place to buy s new alternator?

My first time out this year was at Cumberland last weelend and while checking things out on the hose before I went I could tell it was toast. Ran off the batteries for a couple days by only starting it no radio etc etc. It was reading between 10-10.5 volts on the gauge and the gauge has always been dead on and the lights were dim at night while running and it seemed to get lower at speed

Its a 454 ..... what alternator is it?

(it has had some type of automotive alternator in it for 10 years,,,, it know its not good but its lasted)

thanks PJ

You NEED to get rid of the automotive alternator. If god forbid it does cause an issue with a fire or explosion you may not get insurance to cover it. You can get marine alternators cheap enough from either Ebay, West Marine or Napa even

take it to a good quality elestrical rebuilder . they can repair it and or even up grade the internal to produce more amps and they should be able to also make sure everything is marine rated . at least the shops around here can
