diffence between formula SS and cruiser
What makes the difference between those 2 type of boats? the bigger engines? the width ? the deck hight ? the faster speed because of the bigger engines?
the look is a little different according to pictures I've seen, but I guess you can stand up in both cabin, as same ameneties... what are the differences? |
The SS models are nearly the same weight as the PC (cruisers) but have a beam 1/2 way between the fastech and PC models. They also have stepped hulls and the OPTION of bigger motors. The 370 and 400 are tall enough to stand in. The 350,370,400 models all have aft cabins and gensets are common. These boats run 50-60 depending on which engine option you choose. The PC's are even wider and typically have straight shaft drives. These have noticably more room in the cockpit and below but top out around 40 (note, the SS models have plenty of room in the cockpit if you ask me).
I have looked at these ALOT. If I could get fair money ($115-120K) for my 382 a 525 powered 370SS would be on my short list for the next boat. |
does'nt the SS have also a aft cabin? that's what I thought according again only from pictures. I never saw these in real.
If I understand your point, it's actuaaly just a little smaller in the cabin side for the SS...right? |

just went on the formula site, 37 is 1000 pounds lighter and 6 inches narower than the 40, and deadrise is 21 degre instead of 22 degre...
not a big difference between the 2 so I guess that is why there are not too many 37 for sale compared to the 40... thanks for the info. good luck selling your boat! and choosing the other one! |
compare the 37/38 footers
37 PC 17,500 lbs 12 ft beam aprox 35-40 WOT 370 SS 15,000 lbs 10.5 beam Aprox 60 WOT 382 Fastech 10,500 lbs 8.5 beam aprox 75 WOT |
I thought the Fasteks had 8' 3" beams?
I switched from a Sunsation F4 to a 350SS last year. I wouldn't buy an SS if you really want to go fast. They can get you from point A to point B in a reasonable amount of time, but they are not at all like go fast boats. On the other hand, they are way better as an all around family boat than any go fast boat. Several of my family members really questioned the switch before we did it. But now nobody questions it. I don't think I will ever go back. |
