out with my 03 353 yesterday , when at one point shut ehaust switch off and on of the motors was still loud , not as loud as open but also not quiet, any idea's what might be wrong never happened before....

sounds like the mechanical "diverter" is stuck between thru and hub exhaust position. Could be a solenoid or relay?

I agree with others, sounds like you have a sticking solenoid on the exhaust diverter pipe. You can go to www.boatstoreonline.com and order the part direct if you want to replace it yourself they are usually either the 3 or 4 wire type.

My experience is, one it starts sticking, it will eventually fail completely before too long.

I bought my 2003 292 with 130 hours, and the previous owner must have had a real issue with the diverters going bad - My boat came with FOUR brand new in the box spares. But in 3 years and over 100 hours I have yet to have one go bad (knock on wood).

make sure your batteries are good, seriously had the same problem, replacedmy batteries and no more issues.
