I am having issues with my Marine Air AC unit in my 97 382 Fastech. The water pump was out so I replaced it and it seems to be moving water but I am not sure where the outlet is. The main problem is the unit comes on fine and I can hear the compressor running but after a few minutes it just shuts off. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have looked for threads but haven't been able to find a similar problem. Thanks!

My water outlet is at the starboard rear corner of the boat facing downward. They are prone to airlock and will cause the problems your having. Mine has a "bleeder valve" attached to the pump to let the air out the line. Occasionally I have to crack that open to get it to prime and actually pump water.....get someone to watch for water coming out to verify this isn't your problem.

That may be it, There are 4 outlets there and I didnt know if it was one of them or under the waterline. I bled all the air out of the pump valve before running it and while running and could feel it pushing water but not see it exiting. I may try and chase the line to the back if I can figure out which one it is. The boat was in storage for 1 1/2 yrs and something may be plugging the line out.
Thanks!

I just backflushed my 2000 382 after getting a bad load of weeds in the strainer. The overboard dump is one of the two lower ones on the starboard side. I'm pretty sure that it's the outboard one. If you're on the trailer or a work rack, remove the strainer basket, put the lid back on the strainer, make sure the seacock is open and try squirting water back through it from a hose. If you get water out of the pickup on the bottom of the boat, you've got the correct one. (Be prepared to get wet if you don't get a good seal to the dump fitting.) If it's been sitting that long, there could easily be some crud in there, especially if it wasn't properly flushed and filled with antifreeze when it was put away. Good luck!

If the pump comes on and pumps no water, you have the same problem I did. I contacted Monarch (pump MFG) and Formula many times to fix the problem. This pump is not a self priming pump. It needs water to be at the pump in order for it to suck.
I was told that every time you take the boat out of the water, the water may drain out of the hose and create an air space. When you put the boat back in the water, this air space in the hose prevents water from entering into the pump, sometimes.
I decided to make up my own solution. I installed a T in line just before the pump. I run a hose up 2' and installed a 1/2 turn valve. Now when my pump does not prime on its own, I pour a cup of water down the hose which goes directly into the pump. Works every time.
I was also told I needed to install a check valve inline as t500HP stated.
