I get 75 out of my 242ls . i hear the 223 is a faster hull obviously it'll be lighter and i think its got a different deadrise. might be a squrly right but with the right power it shouldnt be a problem

Im wondering what you have for a setr up on your boat, I am building my motor now, a '97 Gen 6 454, going to deck and port the heads, cam, intake, and 850 cfm carter afb, have two stern drivesone Bravo 3 dual prop w/2.00 ratio, and a bravo 2 with 1.50 ratio, Mercuryracing.com prop slip calc. calls for a 25 pitch 17.5in dia. and promises 83 mph at 5000 rpm. What do you think?

Neither of your sterndrives are good for what your trying to do. You need a bravo 1 drive. I also think your going to need to do a lot more to your engine in order to hit 83 mph.... I'd say your going to need over 450 hp to hit that number. Porting your heads isn't going to do much. I'm not sure if your boat has peanut or rectangular port heads but neither are good for what your trying to do. If your budget allows it, get a set of AFR 265 ovals. But you're also going to need to replace your pistons with a higher compression ratio. Do your research, 85 is going to take one stout motor
