Default 311's with external steering

I want to put external steering on my 311 with TRS Drives. However, evey one that I have seen so far has clearence issues with the rams on the swim platform. Does anyone have external set up on their 311 that still can trip the trives all the way up and not hit anything.

Thanks

Getting rid of the swim platform is not an option as the wife and kid love it for swimming off and so do I.

My Bravos have external and clear fine, I'll see if I can find a pic. But they did have to cut a portion of the platform away in the center where it meets the hull to allow the center mount clearance in there. Imco steering, with the rams mounted between the drives.

Put them on the inside of the drives.

A buddy of mine has the IMCO with the rams inside and they hit on the center.

Only Ted would tell me that "hey they clear fine".... when you remove half the middle.

you can shorten the bottom of the box on the Silent Thunder box ..... mopower had his box shortened
I have IMCO and they never hit unil I Raised the drives all the way (trailer) with the drives turned .... I did not shorten the box ....m

Jon ....... look at the right side of the center box and you will see a line (lip) in the Fiberglass ...you can cut the box there and then cut about 3-4" off and reattach the bottom .... Disreguard the text .... that pic was from a thread about keeping the platform and making the exhaust open like the Fastech ...

Keep it internal like this, and you should be o'k. As stated in previous post, don't trim all the way TTT with your trailer trim.

I don't have as good of pictures of this project I did, but if you go external, you have to make notches like this to clear the rams.

Like I said ....it was never an issue til I was doing somehting with the boat on the lift and raised the drives ALL the way and they were turned ....mopower said that some of the boxes had shorter center sections .....I do know that the IMCO steering seems smoother and easier than the Latham steering on my 353 ......
