Looking great. What's the deal with the manifolds? Did they just rot out or what?

I figured they were 10 years old.....why risk the new engines with that? Someone came by the shop and offered $600 a pair for them as is. Sounds really nice to me!

Here are two of the old ones. I didn't even bother getting them tested or anything.

Sounds like a deal to me! I'm quite familliar with the CMI time bomb issues, but what was the deal with the intakes?

Just curious really.

Oh.....those! So many parts. The Whipple intake manifolds are not plated at all. No matter what, they corrode. Also, the casting does not align with the gaskets they provide which also causes a water resriction. I had to machine the new ones and we also blue hard anodized the complete part. The new ones pictured here we sent back to them and got the non-painted ones so we could anodize the whole part.

Wow, with no coating at all it's no wonder they corrode! Can't believe they can't even get a gasket that matches properly

The boat is really looking good, can't wait to hear the results with the new motors.
