When we gutted the 357 and rebuilt it, we found that the stringers were 3 layers of 3/4". Only where the offshore mounts bolted to it was it all 3 layers. Everywhere else it was the outside two boards and no center board. When we redid it, we made it all 3 layers all the way. On that boat, it was hollow in the middle.

Mike ...take a look at my thread on the 311 stringer repairs ... the center stringer had solid wood thruout ...problem was the bottom of the stringer was not sealed ...so water that was in the V under the stringer could soak up into the plywood ....m

Thanx mike,i took the center motor mounts off and looked in their with the boar scope..looks solid
I would have thought that formula would have done what you did by filling the void between the outter sheets of wood..i guess they thought leaving it hollow would be strong enough..i may open it up and fill the center to my standards..

i was going to install the offshore mounts that came with the sc engines..i saw that you did not install them, courous why you ddidn't?

That's the wider style stringer in the 311's. The 357 had the narrower center stringer. This isn't the best picture, but its all I have left. You can see the narrower style in the right corner of the picture. Not sure which one you had.
