271 Fastech - 496 HO
65 MPH
There is another 271 fastech in our area with 620 HP
doing 82 MPH
The 271 reacts very good on 600 + HP
Here is where the step hull brings its biggest advantage

If you ran 70 on the stock speedo, you are at ~65-66 GPS, at least that is what th edifference was on mine between GPS and speedo.
66 is a legit speed for 500 Horse Power in the 271.

I don't know if you loose low end. Only 271 with a 1.5 that I have been on was 650 HP, and it had no issues. The stock 271 is slow to get on plane at best, even with a 1.65

All 271 fastechs did come with 1:65 with left hand prop. That is what formula found worked best. I replaced mine with a 1:50 and have been pleased. IMO i did not loose any bottom end but gained 1-2mph at cruise. 500 efi, 1:50 drive with 26 left hand bravo......66.5 gps. 2 people 1/3 tank fuel. Getting ready to drop in 540 so we will see what gains we get

All FASTech's came with 1.65? I can't find serial number on my decal or drive, however the SN# on Flame arrestor is OK092486. Everyone I asked about the drive SN said it was a 1.50. Any other opinions on serial number. Did not mean to hijack thread, just learning more and more about Formula's.
