2nd Annual Birds on the Bay Formula Rendezvous - NJ
Splash time 2011 is approaching rapidly in New Jersey and summer schedules are being made. We are putting this event on the calendar earlier this year so everyone can save the date...
Saturday July 16th @ 11:00AM we are to meet at Tices Shoal on the Barnegat Bay (Latitude: 39.8398415, Longitude: -74.1087476). Very similar to last year it will be a casual raft-up of Formulas for the day. Bring your own supplies (beer, rum, ice, food etc.) for the day and shoot the breeze with fellow Formula owners of Jersey. RSVP on here or @ [email protected] so we can get an idea of the turnout expected. Here's a rough flyer there will be more to come. http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5282481_n.jpg Any questions, comments, or suggestions? Post them up! :snide: |
I.D.C.E and I are combining efforts this year to make this a vast improvement over last years. Which is why we want to get the word out early so you can mark it on your calendars. Whether your a Formula, Thunderbird, or even a Falcon owner, you are more the welcome to join us for what will truely be an epic day.
This rendezvous has no affliation with any Formula Dealers or marinas. It is just a gathering of people who share two common interests, boating and the Formula brand. Please let us know if your interested in attending this year so that we can plan the day out accordingly. We are open to any and all suggestions for the days events. I.D.C.E and I will be more then happy to provide any information about marinas, ramps, transient slips, or the area in general. Send a PM or email to [email protected] or simply post your questions on this thread. Look forward to seeing everyone July 16th! |
Just as an FYI - That's the same day as the New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club's "Shore Dreams for Kids" charity event up in Tom's River. That may pull some owners away.
|
We are in. I may run with the SDFK earlier in the day. WINNING!!!
|
As of right now, plans are that we'll be at Tices all day long. So when people are done with the event up in Toms River, they are more then welcome to make their way on ovto er Tices to partake in the festivities.
We had a modest turnout last year with 9 Formula's. I.D.C.E did a great job organizing and promoting the event in a very short amount of time. We're hoping to double the turnout this year. We know those Formula owners are out there, we see them all over the bay. Word-of-Mouth is going to be a huge factor in promoting the event, so please spread the word. |
Well we already have a few confirmed on Formula Owners of New Jersey's Facebook site. It also looks like most of the owners that attended last year already gave me the heads up they will be there again this year. If you would like to hop on there and check it out here's the link...

13 Boats committed so far and most of us haven't even launched the 2011 Boating Season in Jersey!
If anyone has a trailer and want to come down it would be a nice day trip, I can let you know a few marinas that have good ramps to fit pretty much any size in. Also there are plenty of tiki bars and restaurants on the water that allow for overnight docking if you want to overnight in the area! Let me know if you need anymore info. |
Come on fellow northeast bird owners, what are you waiting for? We want some more support, we know your out there. You won't regret it.
|
Trying to keep this on page 1 so everyone gets a chance to see what we're trying to do. Put your name down if your interested.
|
68 days away we have a lot of action on other site and Facebook, where are the OSO guys at???
|
Wish you guys lots of success...won't be able to make it out with my old 'bird - but I'll pimp it as much as I can on the website:

Looks like the word is getting out! GREAT!
Hauling the boat this weekend. Hope to get her wet by the 21st or 22nd. This is the longest she's ever been this dry. I'm usually in the water by the 1st week of May or before. |

We got another RSVP via Email from new Formula Owners who bought a new 31 PC from Jersey's new Formula Dealership Comstock Marine!
|
IDCE .. we should be there (if I am not traveling to India!!! unreal  ) We tried real hard last year to hook up, but as you so well know it gets packed early!! So the GPS coordinates will be very helpful. Maybe I am your 330SS FaceBook entry? :D Looking forward to it and 2011 season ... I've been in for month or so already :evilb:
BTW it's Chris & Fran ... and degenerate Co. :drink: |

Actually Chris that's another fella who is new to Formula this year. It will be nice for you to make it this year since we missed you last. The exact coordinates will most likely change but I will keep everyone informed of where we will be dropping the hook. Most likely the southern end where its less busy. See ya out there!
Tom BTW Saw you made a trip to FLA with IDCE!!! Very cool. I would love to that as well someday to visit my Dad in Jupiter with my boat! |

Just put me on blast why don't you! I'm a very private person you know, don't like my business all out in the open.
Since you brought it up, not sure if I'll be ready for trip to Florida. That will involve a lot of planning for me. Your truck can fit 4. I think from Grandma's to the Elks is far enough for me this year. Baby steps! Baby steps! |

BOOM!!! Warm weather is FINALLY here!!!!! See 'yooz' on the bay.
|
First run out on the bay was the 28th. Launched the boat a little after 1. Ran down to Conklin Island for a few hours. Felt great to be out on the bay. This weekend is looking beautiful already. Planning on being down Saturday, hopefully at Tices by noon.
|
Alrighty just got news from another Formula owner that Sea-Ray/Marinemax has just announced their Aquapalooza the same date as our Rendezvous.
Those who haven't RSVP'd yet this should give you more motivation to make plans on getting your bird tied up at Tices! Lets do this. |
We can't let the Sea Ray's show us up now. We got motivation now.
|
What are peoples thoughts on possibly changing the location so we're not competing with all the Sea Rays over at Tices. Not that there is much competition. This way it's just our event.

Just a thought, more boats + more people = bigger better party?

Good so does that mean you guys are both in. JB you missed last year you aren't allowed to bail this year also I want to see that dash retrofit with the new gauges you did in person. |
Watch this video closely, I found it on youtube not taken by me but look around 0:37 and notice the 2010 Birds on the Bay Rendezvous!

I.D.C.E it's on my calender and we are planning on making it down on Friday, staying until Sunday. Can you provide some recommendations for marina's to stay at that have showers, restaurant and maybe a pool. Anyway it's got to be friendly and clean.
Thanks, JB |
I won't know till it gets closer but I will try to make it.
|
JB. You have your choices however the pool situation is tough. I would recommend you to stay at Southwinds aka Lattitudes now. They have a great ramp for bigger boats, classy indoor/outdoor restaurant and a nice marina. Its the closest marina on the forked river to the bay. There's plenty of parking for your truck and trailer. Also you are a few minutes walk or cruise by boat to Captains Inn Dock Bar which is a fun time usually to grab some food and listen to music.
If you need any help or want to meet up Friday night just let me knowim sure we will be floating around somewhere. |
