Outdrive Issue

Long story short...I hit the outdrive switch up and the drive moves up. I click the switch down the motor runs but the drives wont go down. Suggestions?

Piston is probably sticking try have someone stand on while u work up down. That usually fixes them

what about the trim pump? The trim tabs work just fine.

This has happenned on a few of my boats. It's usually from corrosion on the switch that accumulates during storage.

There are trim pumps in the engine compartment that supply hydrualics to the outdrive trim rams. They have a solenoid that controls up and a solenoid that controls down. The solenoids do go bad. Your boat is just the right age to lose one as well. It's not a hard fix.

crack the lines at the pump, if fluid comes out of the lines and the drive goes down but you may have to push down on it them the problem lies in the pump,if its still stuck solid then their are issues with the rams..

it probably not the solenoid if the motor is getting power.

the motor gets power so its not the switch. if the motor didnt run at all then i would check the switch.
