I like the 1987-1990 formulas. Curved windshield and such. Is this formula worth the money?

Nice boat...He will take $9k for it im sure
My buddy has a 23' Stingray SS with a 454mpi not carb and he gets 69mph out of it with a 5 blade. That is speedo not gps. I believe if he drops back to a 3 blade he will get a honest 62-65mph out of it. That is a light boat, keep that in mind. Stingray claims the boat will do 72mph, but I dont see it.
I would make sure to check the transom and stringers for softness....I had a bad deal on one of those boats, we will not get into that!!
Good luck, you will not regret buying a Formula

If the boat is as stated...get it. The engine swap alone cost this guy several thousand dollars....price that MSD set up...your looking at $600~$700...plus another $400~$500 on the prop.
The 242SS is one of the best all around boats Formula ever built...big roomy cockpit...adequate cabin for overnite...great ride. I had a '86 model and loved it even with a 260. With 454 power, this rig will cruise comfortably at 45~50 all day and give you 60~65 with a twist of the wrist.
Great find!

very well worth the money however I feel that being that is a SS instead of LS thats its worth a little less, if you get around 10k pony up some more and get a 242 definetly a differance between the 2

A buddy of mine had one of them a couple years ago. It had a nice ride for the size. He had a 454 330hp in it. With 4 people in it WOT was in the 55-58 mph range.
The 454 mag carb version was 365hp not 385 as stated in the ad. 385 hp was the 454 mag MPI.
So, about 60 mph sounds right.
For what it is worth my buddy sold his for about $15,000 and it was pretty ugly. Pink and teal....And needed some TLC.
