Just picked up my first formula ! 89 311 sr1, not sure if it's a common issue but I have water seeping thru the carpet where the table goes - I pulled the step and drained the water out but seems to have water still under the floor ... Put the nose up as high a's possible to get water to drain in the hole so I can drain it... Is this water coming from leaking around windshield ect ? Anyone else had this issue ? How the heck will that water dry up under the floor ? Cause for concern ?? Thanks for any imput !!

if the bow of the boat isnt very high, like how it sits in the water the cockpit doesnt drain fast enough and rain water builds up overflows through the cabin door and down the step. wet/dry vac and dehumidifier will dry it right out. happened twice to me

You'll be surprised if you search this forum for water in cabin and how many hits are returned. It's a very common subject. You'll find some creative ways owners have come up with to address the issue too. It's worth doing the research.

My 1988 311 leaked arount the hatches. When I unscrewed the hatches from the deck, some of the gaskets were wrinkled and one had a small piece of tie-wrap under the gasket which allowed water to seep through. The water must have run under the headliner because it wasn't obvious where is was originating. In any case, I siliconed the gaskets and never had a drop of water in the cabin again.

Another possible source that has happened to many Formula's is the seal and screws at the base of the windshield frame. The seal under the frame will draw up and shrivel away from the frame and screws letting water run down the screw holes, onto the headliner in the cabin and then follow the interior down to the floor. Removing the windshield and replacing the seals under the frame is the way to repair this problem when it happens.

For what its worth: When I bought my '86 357 it would collect water under the step at the entrance from the cockpit. The previous owner even installed a bilge pump under the step. Long story short: I eventually found a 1" crack in the hull a few feet forward and slightly to one side of the keel. I ground it out, filled it with marine-tex and sanded it. Never a drop of moisture since (5 yrs ago). The hull isn't very thick under the cabin.

never a issue if the nose is high enough
