415 hp 502 carb

I have a 1990 242ss I am assembling a 415 hp 502 the motor came with some holley carb on it and a gm aluminum dual plane intake and was wondering, should I run the holley or can i run a quadrajet? My buddy runs 2 415's with quads i was just looking for some other opinions. Thanks for any help

What is the top speed and crusing speed with the 502???
I have the same boat with 454 330 hp considering an angine upgrade :-)

Are either carb marine carbs? If not don't run either. I would rather have the holly but if the Q jets is in good shape they do work well and give good fuel economy at cruise. The problem with the Q jets are unless you really know them, and few do, they are hard to adjust and rebuild. If you make any modifications to your motors from stock they will not work real well.

The Holley will have turn down tubes from the bowl vents into the venturi's. That's one quick way to tell. The model number will be on the top of the carb on the main body. More then likely a 4150 (double pumper) see if you can get a shot of it and I can help to identify it.

ok i have the turndown tubes so it is a marine carb it is not a double pumper the number on top of the carb is 6r5533b it also says p-32 on the side of the carb. thanks alot for the help if a shot if the carb will help i will try to post one

Looks like it is a double pumper by the number. Post a shot of it. It's either an 850 or a Merc 830 CFM. Now, if someone has changed the main body, it could be a custom throw together.
