Did anyone else notice the lack of transom-mounted water pickups? They must be using some sort of through-hull pickup on the bottom of the boat. Interesting.

I'm sure with the huge weight-savings, there's going to be some re-balancing of the setup with these engines.

96 factory stock? wow.. thats alot of boat

boilerdaddy 03-08-2012 10:16 AM

I just want to be clear that that number was purely a guess, and that it's not outside the realm of possiblity, AND that it came from the mouth of a dumb old English Ed. major, not an engineer!

fossil fuel 03-08-2012 01:12 PM

My 700NXT 382 ran 97 out of the box. I would think with the weight savings this ilmore would do better than that

That's impressive and stronger than what I've heard for any of the factory-installed 700NXT boats. Did you rig yours the same as the factory? No Whipple upgrade kits, right? ;)

By the way - How did you rig your water pickups? I don't see any transom pickups on MiR's boat...

water pick ups

Here is an example of water pickups on a 353 Fastech

With the move from Bravo XR`s to Imco SCX Drives (two inch shorter) there was not enough water pressure coming from the drives water pick up

These new water pick ups work perfect - as the SCX do

Hey, as long as they (Formula) doesn't fire the messenger, we'll all be ok with it! Good chat yesterday! Talk soon.

700 nxt

everything is the same as the factory except.....1.5" higher X and I removed the gen pickup and the holding tank macerator discharge from the bottom, The gen feeds from the sea strainer and I have no Y valve, I just pumpout at the fuel dock. I cant imagine the factory would leave anything on the bottom with the ilmor's I think I would break 100 with Herrings. But its fast enough

Formula is using a Teague water pick up mounted to bottom of transom, but I can't see them in the pictures.

I can see those changes easily giving you a few mph over the factory boats. I got rid of the generator scoop/grate on the bottom of my boat, and replaced it with a flush through-hull.

MiR - I suspect that your pickups are on the bottom of the hull, which is the latest trend. These are usually cut off pretty close to flush after they are installed.

Just put a 30' long Ilmor sticker down each side and ask for a 25% discount, problem solved:D

Saw a Scarrab about 10-12 or so years ago up here called "FAR BEYOND DRIVEN" I like it. Guess you have to be a Pantera fan:)
