Curious to see where the new Mercury Racing 565 fits in .
And why hasn't the Mercruiser Volkswagen Diesel been tested ? Same output as the Volvo but much lighter .

The 565's that were in the 400SS demo boat in Miami have been removed and sent back to Mercury, but they may have been pre-production prototypes. Don't know about the TDI engines, but that is great technology. I would be concerned about putting any big diesel torque numbers through Bravo drives; Volvo's DP-H is much, much beefier.

I would not feel comfortable with a light weight Diesel? Be worried about self detonating over the long haul due to weight/structure removal.

If you look for a lightweight Diesel package for the 400 SS you should consider the Yanmar 370 V 8 Diesels

You will save about 1000 lbs compared to the Volvo D 6
and the drives have a hydraulis clutch
which works way better than a cone clutch with the Joystick System

Another great Diesel package would be the lightweight 500 HP

Marinediesel , based on the GM 6,6 Duramax
