I've owned 2 Ilmor boats & have recently contacted them w/ the hopes they'll help me put a deal together w/ Formula on a 310FX. From what I understand Formula assigns Max HP limits to each of their boats so I'm thinking a pr 710's is out of the question but a pr 570's I'm hoping would be a consideration.

Axius scares me on a performance boat. Cool idea for a cruiser though. Since there is no tie bar and the drives are independently controlled electronically, can you imagine something going wrong and your drives suddenly point different directions at speed??? Holy swimming lessons Batman!

Great point Phragle, never thought about that. I have no interest in an Axius equipped boat, a bow thruster at best would suffice in a 31' boat IMO, not to mention the cost savings.

A while back someone's axius went haywire at 25 mph and nearly sunk the boat. He included a pic that had the drives at various rudder and trim positions that did look all wrong. Apparantly, there were issues with the early programing for the axius system. I would think they would have that solved by now though. I've owned various SR1's and I agree, must have a tie bar at a minimum in a performance boat. The 310 FX with that power would surely be fast enough to even warrant external hydraulic steering IMHO. Anyway, loved the formulas I have owned in the past.

I've had Axius on a 2008 350SS since the 1.0 software release. And I knew when I bought it that it would have bugs, which it did. 3 software updates later and it is flawless, but some of using it is just common sense which is not always common with boaters. The Gen 2 Axius appears to be solid.

I agree that you wouldn't want it on a performance boat because it prohibits the tie bar. But who the heck buys a 310SS as a performance boat? None of the SS line is what I would consider a performance hull.
