And then right besdie that, is a hand stamped '23p'. maybe somebody repitched it? or screwed it up? who knows. gona try this known 21p, and see what happens I guess.

Sprink- thanks! Although not the loudest boat on the lake, it has received many compliments idling at the docks and and making my test pulls past other boats.

Spent the past few days playing with 19,21, and 23p props. As of right now, the best I can pull is 54mph, whether its with the 19p or 21p. the 23 just lugs, and still can only manage 4200rpm at 47. I've brought the timing to 36 degrees, and the engine really liked that(with no signs of spark knock), but I can"t add anymore as its starting to get hard to start.( no dieseling though after cutoff).

I think I shot myself in the foot by advancing the cam. the way it responded with more timing, and the bottom end power it makes, but lack of power up top, is leading me to believe, I'm running out of cam up high. I'm gonna enjoy the boat as is for the 4th, but come friday or saturday, think I will pull it apart and try running it straight up.

These boat are supposed to hit 60gps with a 330hp 454, I should have no problem getting that with this engine. I have a good solid foundation, but I really think my cam timing is the missing link. Anyone have any suggestion or other ideas?

I vote for the prop...I think a Bravo I or a Mirage labed in a 21 is going to be the answer. I like the advance of the cam idea...bet your low and mid range is snappy. Is the bottom clean and is the dive tight...are you trimmed correctly? Fuel Pressure ok ? Take a look at the plugs and make sure you aren't running too lean.

Whew! Been busy! Boat is completely stripped down, doing bodywork and prepping for paint. I will never, ever buy a boat with bottom paint again!! Two days of laying on my back, dust mask, and a sander sanding off some off the dirtiest, foulest tasting stuff known to man is just no fun... But at least its over with!

While had the engine out, figured it was time to upgade a little. .080 wall pushrods and a cam swap. Slid in a Lunati 230/235 dur, 114lsa, .629 lift to replace the 225/225 115.5lsa .480 that I used last year. Hope it will get me the power Ive been looking for. Iys a 110icl, I installed it at 107.5icl, was trying to get to 106, but wasn't able to, with my chain set and sprocket, got it to 105, intake valve was too close to piston, so 107.5 is where its stay. Bought some Gil long tube risers that Im gonna mate to my manifolds.

I want it louder, so I glassed over the original exits of the silent thunder, and cut new holes inline with the transom oulets.

Fnished up body work, and started taping her up to hopefully shoot her with high build primer saturday. Im gonna be spraying her with Supermarine SM1000 single stage marine paint. Planned on painting her top to bottom in Ablaze red. Well, Ive done a ton of work smoothing her out, and during prep, her true colors of white, red, and black were revealed..

So help motivate me, give me some input, solid red or take the extra time and paint her dlose to the original scheme???

Formula did a great job of styling and painting their boats...any time you stay with that you appeal to more people on a resale. All red is a serious choice...I'm a bit prejudice in that regard. You could always call it The Crimson Tide

Im considering all red because its bold, and will stand versus the plethora of white boats with minor graphics differences.. Resale isnt a huge consideration, as even though almost at the 11k mark, I know this is a losing invesrment. I can go either way and prob its worth the same, but it would prob sell easier if it was original colors or all white...

So Sprink, take it your vote is for original scheme??

Motivate me fellow Formula brethren to take my time and go through all the extra work of a 3 color paint job, lol

Finally got some odds an ends done, weather co-operated this week and got her shot with primer sealer.. Waiting on Fed-Ex to drop off paint Tuesday. Engine is ready to drop in, and a few mor small parts on the way. Decided on a all red paint job, as its bold, and at least it should look fast in red. Trying to come up with some graphic schemes for her.
