If I was closer to a lab I would love to get that piece under an electron microscope. Something went wrong with this forging when it was in the mold. Could have been a bad metallurgical mix...maybe it was mishandled prior to annealing or some other process. I doubt seriously that this was due to abuse or extreme use/shock...properly forged pieces don't fail like this did. My take is this is a result of compromised QC at the mill.
TYPO. Castings are made in molds forgings are forged.
Or. Are you saying the ingot for the forging was cast improper?

Do you have external steering? I know my boat needs it and I'm a little slower than you.... The nice thing with the TRS boats is from what I've read they're better balanced. I went to Torch this year with some friends in their boat and I was shocked how many large offshore boats there was on that lake. Also there were a lot of really nice boats in TC over Cherry-fest. I need to get my boat up there this year. Portage is a fun lake but there really aren't a lot of fast boats down here. Most are just little boats with a big engine.

pgolder I think we are running almost exact speeds. I will let you know where I end up at when I get her dialed in next year. Those dyno numbers at the prop are awesome! Maybe our TRS drives and trannies aren't as parasitic as most think.

I have removed the engine hatch to finish installing new valve covers/breathers, intakes and new carbs. My engine hatch is currently resting on the tops of the furthest outside manifold risers. Has anyone had any experience with this?
