Remove the sun pad, that ought to give you more room.

Why you pulling them?

Purchase Service Manual #31 and read Chapter 2. Seriously.

I do not remove sun pad. I just use a pole to push pad back so it is vertical. Newer mercs are really simple to pull. All the hoses have quick disconnects. I can pull a motor in about an hour on mine. Probly because I have had them in and out 4 times LOL!
