Magic erasers work great on removing stains however, they also remove every ounce of natural oils that should be in the fabric (ever see upholstry that looks like plastic???)

Once you clean them make sure to use lots of conditioner on the material to return oils back into the fabric.

After a little bit of detective work, I spoke to the original owner today. This boat has a very rich history. The hull has been 82 MPH with a specially built 502 with an early form of EFI that the first owner developed with the help of John Lingenfelter back in 1991. It has since been de-tuned and returned to carburetion when he traded it in for a larger boat. In 2000 the second owner built the motor again and as reported by the third owner, will reach 64MPH and more but he ran out of room. It will be returned to its first name of "Simply Irresistible"

I can relate to the black white rub rail change. My 242 currently has black but I'm thinking to change it to white. It looks cleaner, more modern and it is not so hot in the sun.
I have just purchased a 357 that is identical to my 242 and it will most likely get white rub rails too and maybe even the stainless inserts.

Nice boat btw. 82 sounds very optimistic with a 502 unless it is pumping more than 550HP. I know a 242 that has 535HP and only gets 76mph.

Congrats! A 242 w/bolsters is a rare find. A 242 w/bolsters that is that clean is def a gem. Enjoy it. Very nice solid boat.

As for cleaning and treating the vinyl. I use spray nine with a medium bristle scrub brush. Rinse thoroughly. After drying use a product called 303 aerospace. Its a vinyl conditioner but doesn't leave it oily like armor all does. I constantly get comments from people, they can't believe its 11 years old and all original.

I had an '87 272 SR-1 I sold last year and bought a '02 292 Fastech with a blown motor. I saw the guy last week (I was testing my new engines for the Tickfaw 200) and he asked me about the 303 aerospace. I have used it religiously for many, many years and have always gotten compliments on the interior. I like the fact that it isnt oily like the Armor All. It's a must.....
