Hey guys I am looking to purchase my first boat and I have my eye on a 1987 242ss with a 350 and alpha drive. The boat seems to be in real good shape solid floors and the engine runs well. I offered the seller $4500 without trailer and he excepted the offer. I am located in Miami Fl and that is honestly the best deal I have found. I also am looking at a 85 f3 ls with the 350 and alpha drive for 3700. Both are in the same shape mechanically but the fs needs the interior done in the cuddy cabin. I'm just wondering what you guys think would be a better buy.
Neither has a trailer.
Thanks

So long as the transom, bulkheads and stringers are still good in the 242ss , it would be the better way to go IMHO.
1987 was the first year for the full cockpit liner in the Formulas. The particular style ran 1987-1991.
