Considering a 272 sr1

I'm looking at a 89 272 sr1 twin 454s with bravo drives. Overall it's a clean boat with a nice trailer. Took for a sea trial motors and drives preformed well. Owner says that everything is original with 1050 hrs. It did about 58-60 on GPS with mirage 25p props full of fuel with 5 people on board. Hull appears solid has a little dock rash on starboard rear corner. Guy is asking 14k give me some input on this. What should I look for? Thanks

Good price! If it is all dry, buy it.

As far as I can tell its dry and solid. Would it be worth getting it surveyed?

Always worth getting surveyed. That will be the majority opinion on OSO. Spend a little money up front, to save major money after purchase.

1000 HRS it needs repower

That what I was thinking on the repower. Best to rebuild whats there or get some long blocks ?

Depends on what your goals are. If you know a builder close to you with a good reputation you are miles ahead going that route.

I personally think the ask is too high with that many hours...I'm thinking more like $10K.

I'm with John on this one. 14K with those kind of hours is just high. You may get lucky and get a few seasons, or get unlucky and blows before the end of this summer. It's reasonably obvious that it's down on power since w/ twin bbc's it should touch 70. Even with 5 people it's a solid 60's boat

The price is more than fair. With twin 454's that's only a 63 MPH boat, it will NEVER hit anywhere close to 70 with stock motors. Around here (Michigan) 242's are going for $15,000. Two years ago the boat market was in the tank, not so much anymore, prices are much higher for the same boat. Seeing that the boat is within 3 mph of new power speed, I'm going to guess the engines were not run hard. Also a 25 pitch prop is to much prop, the stock props were 23 mirage's. You may get to 60-62 with the right props. Here are some things to check, what is your oil pressure and what kind of compression do the engines have?
