yup mine had a 502 carb, it was tired I could get 58 mph thats it, again it was a carb and tired also a sr1, the newer fastechs with efi's and somehow Formula figured out turning a left hand four blade was better they would be honest 65 mph boats,

My buddy has a 00-01 271 w/ 502. When the water is like glass, he runs pretty much neck and neck with my 292 with 350s. However, any bit of chop he can't keep up. 292's need a little bit of chop to get the air under the hull and that 2nd step. Other then twins, that 2nd step and 2ft in LOA its the same exact boat. Cockpit is practically identical in size when we are anchored together.
